Last week, Down Under, Nieuwegein witnessed the competition of the year! Thirty-three (33) participants in two categories (women and male) competed for the trophy and the Dutch National Server Throwing championship title.
Although all the competitors fought bravely to win, only one (in each category) was able to claim victory and bragging rights of being the new National Server Throwing Champions.
Drum roll, please…
The winner of the competition for the male division was none other than Bas Schalk from Interxion: A Digital Realty Company. In the final round, he launched the server in the air, and it landed at 12,23 meters, making him the champion of the night. Although Bas was not able to beat the record of his mentor Ernie Sophia (16,3 meters), his performance was incredible!

For the women’s division, the title of National Server Throwing Champion was taken by Melissa Scholten, also from Interxion: A Digital Realty Company. Melissa stepped in last minute for one of her colleagues, and her server landed at 6,39 meters. Not only did she win the title but she also is currently the record holder for the women’s category.

The day was filled with laughter, great conversations, and a tasty BBQ. Our colleagues, Thanh, Sharita, Tony, and Bart represented us during the competition and had a blast!
Thank you to our hosts at Dutch Cloud Community for putting together this incredible event. We can’t wait for next year’s competition!
