Cloud Expo Frankfurt 2024 – superheroes of the server building challenge!

On May 22nd and 23rd, our crew had great fun while connecting with people from the industry at Cloud Expo Frankfurt 2024. “It was another exciting couple of days for cloud computing enthusiasts and professionals,” says DACH sales lead Thomas Amberg.

Our server-building competition, now an annual tradition, was an absolute hit,” shares Thomas. “The Marvel theme added an extra layer of excitement, with participants eager to win those Lego sets.  The enthusiasm at our booth attracted a diverse range of participants. Both newcomers and long-time attendees of this event were drawn to our booth.

But the competition wasn’t just about the prizes, Thomas continues: “It was about engaging with the community and showcasing the skills and creativity of our participants. The feedback we received was extremely positive, with many visitors remarking on how our booth stood out from the crowd.”

Maxim Gade won by putting together a server in a staggering 48.05 seconds, earning him the grand prize. Ansgar Burmann wasn’t far behind, securing second place with a time of 54.16 seconds. Tamilarasan Abimanyu came in third with a time of 58.06 seconds.

Of course, the broader themes of the event were also on Thomas’ mind: “Cloud and data sovereignty are hot topics currently. European cloud providers must prepare to be ready to answer questions on these topics.  Hardware might not be in the spotlight, but it remains crucial for optimizing a more circular and sustainable future.
