It might have had something to do with the stroopwafels. Or maybe with the giant Millennium Falcon Lego set you could win by assembling a server. Or even with the people skills of our sales reps. Whatever it was: Cloudfest 2023 was as successful as it was fun.
The yearly #1 internet infrastructure event in the world, connecting the global cloud computing industry, took place from March 20th to March 23th in Rust, Germany. We have been present there many times, but this year, we had our own Ynvolve booth. An excellent spot for our sales reps to network and talk business with our (future) clients. But it wasn’t all business. Our booth attracted many attendees because of the stroopwafel tins we were giving away, but even more so because of our Server Assembly Contest. At stake were multiple Star Wars lego sets including a giant Millennium Falcon Lego set.
The idea was as simple as it was complicated: assemble this server as fast as you can. Good luck and may the force be with you! The fastest one to put in the ram, storage, power supply, cpu and heatc sinks leaves Cloudfest with their own Millennium Falcon. We allowed everyone a chance once a day, which resulted in many people coming back every day to try again, or bringing in their IT persons and engineers to have a go. It resulted in Erwin Bleeker winning 3rd place (49.72 seconds) and Goina Tudar picking up the silver medal (48 seconds). But Manuel Buehrer was the absolute Jedi Master: 47.6 seconds to assemble the server.
We are already looking forward to Cloudfest 2024, and creating an even greater challenge for the attendees. But for those who can’t wait until next year, come visit us at Cloud Expo Frankfurt in May and Paris in November! The 2024 Star Wars roadshow continues; more awesome Star Wars lego sets to win!
